Job Description
BCL Legal are currently recruiting a Private Client Solicitor for a specialist regional Law Firm based in York. The role is to cover maternity and will be expected to last for 9-12 months.
The main purpose of the role will be to provide legal advice, assistance and representation to clients of the Firm within the Private Client department specifically in the following key areas;
- Lasting Powers of Attorneys (property, affairs, health and welfare) and EPAs with experience of registration
- Inheritance Tax, Capital Gains Tax and Income Tax in particular relation to Estates, Trusts and Individuals
- Court of Protection work
- Probate (inc. Business and Agricultural assets and assets in other jurisdictions)
- Preparation of wills to include capacity, undue influence and domicile and residence and problems arising out of foreign assets.
You will also comply with the Firm's policy and department procedures in taking and confirming instructions, client care, file management, file organisation and the immediate reporting of possible claims or complaints.
Other responsibilities will be to achieve and seek to exceed the chargeable and non-chargeable time recording targets set by the department which may vary from time to time, invoice and recover the maximum fees possible and achieve any targets set, to adhere to the Firm's Financial Management and invoicing/credit control policies, to monitor WIP levels and to provide technical support to department colleagues.
The expectation will also be to maximise internal and external referrals along with working closely with other department heads in order to generate new business ideas.
You will be ideally 2-3 years PQE with experience in all aspects of probate work to include LPAs/EPAs and registration and Court of Protection. You will also have knowledge of all aspects of tax planning, domicile and residential issues and Trusts- legal and tax aspects.
The successful candidate will hold a full practising certificate, be self-motivates and committed and maintain a professional approach to clients.
