In-house Solicitor

An excellent opportunity has arisen to practise as an in-house solicitor in the Practice Governance and Risk team of a highly regarded national firm, to be based in the Leeds office.

The 8-strong team of lawyers deals with a broad range of matters on behalf of the firm, including, but not limited to commercial contracts in relation to clients and suppliers, involvement in bids and tenders, handling of conflicts of interest, confidentiality and data protection issues, AML, sanctions & anti-bribery compliance, general regulatory matters, in-house training, operational risk and professional indemnity & complaints.

They are looking for a further solicitor to join the friendly, close-knit team. A key requirement is somebody who has an in-depth understanding of the SRA regulations and an understanding of the regulatory risks of the profession. The solicitors in the team come from a variety of practice backgrounds, including professional indemnity, construction, employment and transactional areas. Some experience of professional indemnity or commercial contracts would be useful but is not essential. Naturally applications from lawyers who are currently in similar roles with other firms are especially welcome.

The team works well together in an open and collaborative way. They're a very down to earth bunch who enjoy their work and like to get things done, operating a common sense approach. This is a non-fee earning role so time recording doesn't apply and the structure of the team is flat, rather than hierarchical, which means that you can take on as much responsibility as you feel comfortable with and can really build a career in this area. It's a varied role, where no two days are the same and you're working very closely with the business, getting an in-depth understanding of it from an operational perspective.
