Employment Law Paralegal

BCL is delighted to be assisting this highly regarded international firm with the recruitment of an employment paralegal to join their large employment team in the Leeds office.

Employment law is a key practice area for this firm and it forms the major part of the firm's Employment & Pensions team. It is ranked as a national leader for this area of work. The team across the offices in the North of England operate as a seamless team and they are one of the few team which service an extensive client base of both public sector and commercial clients.

The team handles predominantly respondent based work and offers the full spectrum of employment advice to include HR support, disciplinary & grievance matters, redundancy programmes, industrial action and TUPE transfers, as well as working closely with the commercial and corporate teams on the employment aspects of transactional matters.

The team is now looking to recruit an employment paralegal to provide support for the team in activities such as basic drafting - defences to claims, counter schedules of loss, applications to Employment Tribunals etc - document management activities, briefing Counsel and liaising with Counsel, providing support to lawyers on non-contentious advisory matters and responding to ad hoc employment law & HR queries on various client helplines.

In short, this is a really varied role which will enable you to really build your skills in employment law within a firm which is dedicated to developing its people and providing them with a supportive and challenging working environment.

Applications are invited from Law (or other related subjects) graduates with a strong academic record, who have already gained at least 6 months' exposure to employment matters, have an eye for detail, and ideally some experience of running litigation matters. Particular preference will be given to candidates who have gained some experience of working on an advisory helpline but this is not essential to be considered.

In return the firm offers a competitive salary package and regular ongoing training.
