Delivering more than just legal consultants
Sometimes clients need expert help in other aspects of their business. That’s why we created The Consultant Register. It’s a database of experienced professionals available for full or part-time consultancy work on an interim or contract basis, providing expertise across Law, Marketing, Finance, IT, HR and Practice Management.
Every Consultant Professional on the Register can expect to provide advice and expertise within their specialist field, and is fully interviewed, referenced and recommended by us. To be included on the Consultant Register, you’ll need:
- Previous experience within your chosen field of expertise
- Commitment to service delivery, professionally, ethically and regulatory
- Proof of identification, professional qualifications and Practicing Certificate if relevant
Here are just a few examples of the Consultants we've been able to provide:
1. A Panel Member for compliancy
Problem: A small Law Firm won a Mental Health Contract but didn't have a Supervisor in place as required by the Legal Services Commission.
Solution: BCL provided the client with an experienced Panel Member on a consultative basis to satisfy their Legal Service Requirement.
2. Set-up of new division
Problem: A Midlands-based Private Practice specialising in Personal Injury wanted to grow their business and set up an Employment Department.
Solution: BCL provided an interim professional with previous experience in heading up and developing Employment divisions. The Consultant Solicitor worked full time for an initial period during the business development and set-up period, and now works two days per week to ensure the department continues to run efficiently and effectively.
3. Marketing and business development
Problem: A small independent Law Firm were keen to rebrand and reposition themselves in their local market. They needed a Marketing Professional who understood their industry, and who would be able to maximise and understand both their current and potential client base.
Solution: A Consultant Marketing Professional was appointed to formulate and implement a Marketing and Business Development Strategy. Working with department heads, she was integral in driving bid processes, specific campaigns and sector-focused BD. Working two days per week, she has been integral in increasing the Firm's turnover.
4. Profitability and cash-flow improvements
Problem: A regional Law Firm needed a Qualified Accountant on a part time, on-going basis to help assess merger and acquisition opportunities, calculating the value of deals and raising funds to develop the business.
Solution: An experienced Finance Director with 20 years’ experience in Private Practice was appointed on a consultancy basis. In addition to the original brief, he recommended ways of structuring financial matters, improving cash-flow and profitability.
5. Implementation of HR processes
Problem: A rapidly expanding Law Firm needed external Human Resource assistance with recruitment planning, career development, training and employee management.
Solution: BCL provided an experienced HR Consultant with over 10 years’ experience in Private Practice, who set up the application and selection process of new recruits, put career-paths in place throughout the business, created training and staff development programmes and standardised performance reviews and disciplinary procedures. This person still works for the Firm on a consultancy basis.
