Tailoring your CV to move in-house

If you’re looking to move in-house your CV needs to highlight your breadth of experience. The best way to do this is to divide it into specific areas – for instance:

  • Commercial Contracts Experience - List examples
  • Intellectual Property Experience - List examples
  • IT Contracts - List examples

For areas you’re not expert in but have covered, use a more general heading:

  • Other Experience - Extensive experience drafting and advising on commercial, IP, IT and data protection warranties and indemnities as part of corporate M&A transactions, together with due diligence. Knowledge of advertising compliance, copy clearance, prize promotions, data protection and other regulatory issues

If you’re a corporate lawyer, don’t just list the deals that you’ve assisted on. Instead, try to get across how integral you were in the commercial aspects of each deal.
