BCL Legal has acquired the leasehold on the first floor of the Lancaster Buildings at 77 Deansgate in Manchester. This will complement the second, third and fourth floors it already occupies and aids further expansion across the company.
BCL Legal employs 57 people and also has offices in London, Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool and Reading. The relocation from its Lexicon Building in Mount Street took place in October 2014 and the company has rapidly sought plans to leasehold more of the building space which is testament to how quickly the firm is growing. BCL Legal will occupy the majority of the square footage available with a view to leasing the remaining floor space.
James Batt, managing director at BCL Legal, commented: “We are thrilled with our central location and the benefits this offers for both our clients and employees. By acquiring the first floor, this opens up commercial rental opportunities and provides the firm with the security of a long-term lease and increased presence in our building. RBS has been instrumental in allowing our relocation, expansion and future growth to prevail through the provision of a funding package, for which we are very grateful.”
Anthony McGreevy, senior relationship manager at RBS, added: “This overall deal required high level relationship management and an understanding of what BCL Legal was looking to achieve. As a long-term supporter of the company and management team, I understood James’ business aspirations from the outset and was able to complete the deal in a timely manner. I wish the BCL Legal team all the best as they settle into their new surroundings and enjoy the benefits this will bring to their business.”
Thomas Pearson, commercial property partner at JMW, said: “We are pleased to continue our working relationship with OBI and BCL Legal assisting them throughout the process of buying in the balance of the office space and on strategic lettings.”
