BCL Legal has appointed another two consultants to its growing team.
Rachel Darlington has joined as a consultant and will be placing solicitors, legal executives and paralegals into commercial practice areas across Yorkshire. Rachel initially worked for BCL Legal from 2003 to 2004 and was the firm’s first ever employee. She left in order to practice as a criminal lawyer but decided to move back into recruitment this year. Her last post as criminal lawyer was at Olliers Solicitors.
The second new starter is Joanne McKernan. Joanne’s new role as a consultant will see her focusing on the placement of lawyers, company secretaries and compliance professionals into businesses across the Midlands and the South West of England. Joanne graduated in Law and French and completed the LPC at Cardiff University in 2000. She joined Thales as a legal and commercial graduate in 2003 and subsequently trained in-house as a solicitor at Thales’ UK headquarters. In 2005, she joined BAE Systems as counsel in its military air business and provided legal support to different areas of the organisation.
Mark Levine, head of the in-house team at BCL Legal, commented: “Joanne has significant experience of working as an in-house lawyer and is therefore well placed to understand our clients’ requirements and to give candidates a unique insight into the in-house world. Her joining is a great addition to the team.”
Whilst James Batt – managing director – added: “Both Rachel and Joanne bring with them some fantastic experience from the private practice and in-house sectors. We are delighted that Rachel has decided to come back and we are looking forward to them both making their mark and developing their own parts of the business.”
In addition to the two new members of staff, BCL Legal has also promoted Paul Warburton. Paul is now a managing associate in the North West private practice team. He joined the firm in 2010 and specialises in recruiting for private practices in the North West across all commercial disciplines.
