BCL Legal Sponsors BTSS AGM & New Committee Announced

BCL Legal – the Birmingham based legal recruitment firm – last week sponsored the Annual General Meeting of the Birmingham Trainee Solicitors’ Society (BTSS) which also included the election of the new committee. The event, which took place at Temple Street Social, attracted the cream of the region’s young legal talent and included the election, a drinks reception & raffle. The newly elected committee is:

Chair: Malcolm Peebles – Gateley
Treasurer: Paul Worsnop – Anthony Collins
Co Sec: Andy Humphries – Shakespeares
Charities: Melita Bown – SGH Martineau
Education: Inderpal Singh – Mills & Reeve
Philosophus: Cerys Powis – SGH Martineau
Sports: Andrew Stokes – Higgs and Sons
Liaison Officer: Hannah Westwood – SGH Martineau
PR – Rebecca Maher – Wallace, Robinson and Morgan

The BTSS is an organisation made up of over 500 trainee solicitors, paralegals, newly qualified solicitors and post-graduate law students from across Birmingham and the West Midlands. Originally an off-shoot of the Birmingham Law Society, each month the BTSS hosts a range of social, sporting, cultural and charitable events with the aim of bringing young lawyers together and raising their profile across the city and beyond. It assists its members in forging links with other professionals through its relationships with the Birmingham Law Society, the Junior Lawyers Division, Birmingham Future, Birmingham Forward, the Accountants’ Group and RICS, to name a few.

James Brewster, manager at BCL Legal Birmingham, said: “We are big supporters of the BTSS so we were delighted to get involved in this year’s AGM. Chaitali Desai – the out going chair and her team – did an amazing job during their tenure and I’m sure Malcolm and his new colleagues will build on that success to make the organisation even more relevant and dynamic than it already is.”
