On Friday 26th November, BCL Director Mark Levine, together with consultants Tom Crampton and Tom Fleet, attended the annual Commerce and Industry North East dinner in Leeds.
Guests of BCL Legal included prominent legal counsel from across the region; Brian Smith (Provident Financial plc), Jason Curtis (Mamas & Papas), David Morgan (Manheim Europe Ltd) and Alex O’Connell (Northern Gas Networks Ltd).
The night began with a champagne reception and an address from John Bleasdale – the new Chairman of the C&I Group – who celebrated the hard fought and recently won battle for a fairer practising certificate cost for in-house counsel.
After the dinner, Dermot Gallagher – the ex-Premiership referee – regaled the audience with some stories from behind the whistle, and the ever popular after dinner casino made some instant, and imaginary, fortunes.
The night also raised over £2,000 for Candlelighters which is a wonderful charity dedicated to supporting the families of child cancer patients in Yorkshire.
Mark Levine, director of BCL Legal’s in-house department, said; ‘It was another great night, celebrating the achievements of the C&I Group and the in-house community in general. After all the hard work through the year, this social gathering is a good way to catch up with fellow in-house lawyers and compare notes. We always enjoy the night and are grateful to North East C&I Group for allowing us to be involved in their headline event of the year.’
