Mary, Nick, Sam and I were flying the flag for BCL last month at the Leeds JLD Summer Ball, held at Lamberts Yard in the city centre. BCL Legal was proud to sponsor the main event.
It was a lively but relaxed affair, with a fun & frivolous circus theme which included themed centrepieces on the tables and a big circus elephant (not a live one!) at the Prosecco reception.
The committee events co-ordinators, Kristina and Melissa, did a wonderful job of delivering a great event that was enjoyed by all, with vital input also from fellow committee members Leanne (chair), Helen, Owen and Hayley. Have I missed anyone out??
The weather had cleared up beautifully as we kicked off the evening with an outdoor prosecco reception before making our way up to the main event. Lamberts Yard was a great space for the event, quirky and unstuffy and there was plenty of relaxed chatter and laughter as dinner was served.
We enjoyed giant couscous salad with feta and watermelon, followed by slow roast beef in a delicious red wine sauce, served with rocket and fresh vegetables, topped off by a rich chocolate brownie with berries and a couli.
To add to the circus theme, we were also entertained by glamorous ladies on stilts and a wonderfully creative balloon artist who rustled up intricate balloon sculptures to order – mermaids, monkeys, fire-breathing dragons, Superman, bees, dinosaurs (complete with teeth!) and many more including a cute little black & white cat I had promised to take home for my 10 year old daughter.
After dinner there was dancing into the night to a mix of current tracks and old dance floor favourites, before we wended our weary way home.
All in all, a successful evening all round!
