2014 is flying by (the year seems to go faster and faster these days!!) and thankfully we have been incredibly busy in the first 6 months of the year – so this in itself probably answers the question above!
On the company side we have worked with a range of businesses from Newcastle Building Society in the North (East) to Marlin Financial Services on the South Coast and quite a lot in between!
Starting in the North and moving South some of the clients that we have assisted include: Arriva, ASDA, Siemens Power, BAE Systems, Balfour Beatty, Bank of America, BUPA, Daisy Communications, Manchester United, Pets at Home, James Fisher, Sports Direct, Alliance Boots, Lloyds Pharmacy, Compass, Lafarge Tarmac, Moslon Coors, Wolseley, Nissan, Randstad, Pegasystems and Salesforce.com.
It is great to see a diverse range of sectors looking to bring on in-house lawyers, this includes Financial Services, Manufacturing, Retail and Telecomms.
On the candidate lawyer front in recent months, due to the upturn in recruitment as well as the surge in commercial work in private practice, the availability of ‘appropriate’ lawyers has become challenging. No more so than around the 2-4 year mark, although I would even extend this up to c7/8 years.
Apart from some specific temporary requirements in fairly ‘off the beaten track’ locations we have been able to assist clients with their recruitment needs. Having been working the in-house market non-stop since 2001 we have a long history and depth of knowledge of the candidate lawyer ‘talent pool’. It may mean that you only see 3 great lawyers in a shortlist instead of 5-8 but as often it is only one lawyer being recruited we are able to find the right person for the job!
