  • The family law team at Challinors has hired Richard Gray and Venetia Chatzimichali. The new recruits bring the family law team up to 33 fee earners and grow the firm’s representation on the Law Society children’s panel to six.
  • DAC Beachcroft has recruited partner Michael Peters to its Leeds office.
  • BPE has appointed Elizabeth Saunders as a partner and head of the family team.
  • Shoosmiths has appointed Fiona Teague to its commercial team in Birmingham. Commercial and technology specialist Joe Simpson has been promoted to associate.
  • Sarah Gates and Caroline van Zyl have been promoted to senior solicitor at Blake Lapthorn.
  • Howes Percival has appointed two new solicitors: Julie Endersby and Victoria Wall.
  • Cambridge firm Ameer Meredith has appointed Sophie Grainger as an assistant solicitor.

November

  • Gateley has strengthened its corporate, commercial dispute resolution and pensions teams in Birmingham with three new appointments. Jenna Ostrowski joins the corporate team from the Birmingham office of Shoosmiths. Kate Ashwood takes up a position in the corporate dispute resolution team following three years at Leamington Spa-based Wright Hassall. Jill Walters joins the firm’s pensions’ team having previously worked for Hammonds
  • Shaun McCabe has joined Shoosmiths as a new banking partner. He joins from Browne Jacobson where he was head of its East Midlands banking team
    Osborne Clarke has hired CMS Cameron McKenna pensions partner Keith Webster for its Bristol practice
    Cobbetts has appointed Roger Potgieter as a partner in its banking and finance litigation team
  • Gino Sonczak has been appointed by Davis Blank Furniss as litigation executive and head of personal injury in its Glossop office
    Laura McIlwain has joined BHW Solicitors as its new head of employment. Laura joins from the National Farmers’ Union
    Ruth Creed, Caroline Foster and Sarah Trendell-Smyth have been promoted to associate at the Birmingham office of Mills & Reeve
    Browne Jacobson has recruited associate Richard Freeth to its Birmingham office
  • Nick Carter has joined Williamson & Soden ashead of commercial litigation from Anthony Collins Solicitors
  • Bernadette O’Reilly has joined Hewitsons as a partner in its private client team
  • Lisa Botterill has joined Shakespeares as a partner in the corporate services team
  • DWF has grown its asset and consumer finance practice with the appointment of a new finance regulation team in Birmingham. Partner Joanne Davis, former head of Shoosmiths Asset Finance Division, heads up the team

  • Woolley & Co has recruited three new solicitors; Ian Giddings, Kate Brooks and Celia Christie
  • Fraser Brown has appointed Adrian Slater as a partner. He is an insolvency specialist and joins from Geldards. The firm has also recruited Alex Brooke-Smith to its dispute resolution team
  • Geldards has appointed property investment lawyer Ranjit Srai.
  • The Nottingham office of Eversheds has unveiled its new intake of trainees and newly qualified solicitors. The firm has provided new training contracts to law school graduates Kyle Richards, Liam Rodgers, Helen Webster and Victoria Ferres
  • Brian Holloway, a principal and commercial property lawyer at Robinsons Solicitors, is to head up its operations. He will be based at the firm’s Ilkeston office
  • Weightmans has appointed Ian Yule as head of its construction and engineering practice. He will based at the firm’s Birmingham office
  • Freeth Cartwright has appointed Catherine Burke as a partner and head of its local energy practice
  • Roythornes has announced the promotion of associates Martin Jinks and Deborah Brown to the partnership to strengthen the commercial team
  • Williamson & Soden has recruited Nick Carter as partner and head of commercial litigation

August 

  • Thursfields has announced that it is expanding its commercial services practice in Worcester. Managing partner and commercial and property lawyer Nick O’Hara will lead the team
  • Freeth Cartwright has appointed Mushtaq Khan to head up its Birmingham-based social housing practice
  • Flint Bishop has promoted Qamer Ghafoor to equity partner. His appointment is the first of its kind at the firm in eight years
  • Beachcroft has promoted Craig Dickson in the claims solutions /credit hire team in Birmingham to director
  • Wright Hassall has appointed Eleanor Deady as partner in its commercial property department
  • Mills & Reeve has announced the promotion of new partners David Gooding and Stephen Hamilton
  • Cobbetts has announced a number of partner promotions, Ian Illersic (banking and business restructuring); Dominic Prentis (corporate) and Nigel Gardner (TMTI).
  • Steeles Law has promoted Katy Levy to partner following a year as head of the dispute resolution team. Katy, who trained as a solicitor with Steeles Law between 2004 and 2006, has been made principal in the dispute resolution team. This follows a successful year heading the team in Norwich. Katy moved back to Steeles Law in May last year following two years at Eversheds
  • Robinsons Solicitors has promoted Sarah Nash to principal
  • Tees Solicitors has promoted Janine Collier, Adam Copeland, David Miller and Sally Powell to associates
  • FBC Manby Bowdler has hired Margaret Rowe as a partner from Hatchers in Shrewsbury
  • Nussrat Bashir is now a solicitor at Nelsons. An adoption and children law specialist, Nussrat joins the firm’s family law team based in Nottingham
