This ever-popular mid tier commercial firm in Leeds is looking to expand its employment team with the hire of a fairly junior solicitor.
The team deals with the full range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters on behalf of both stand-alone employment clients as well as nurturing close relationships with the firm's corporate clients in relation to their employment requirements and getting involved in the employment aspects of corporate deals. Most of the work is respondent-based but they do also deal with some higher level applicant work, principally on behalf of directors and higher level executives.
They are a down to earth team, with a sociable approach in the office, but hugely professional in relation to client care, and have won awards for the quality of their team.
They are recruiting a junior solicitor with around 2 years' experience in respondent-based employment law. You may be more or less qualified than 2PQE but around 2 years' experience in employment would be the ideal level. They are happy to look more junior though if you have particularly strong experience and are confident in your knowledge. Decent academics, the ability to build and maintain client relationships and identify new opportunities, strong IT skills and plenty of self-motivation are what the firm is looking for in addition to core technical skills and a strong desire to succeed.
The team is close-knit and supportive, and well-balanced to provide the ongoing support and mentoring that is essential at this crucial stage in your career, but this is balanced by an expectation that all their lawyers are self-starters and able to use their own initiative, which enables them to progress well through their career.
