An international energy group is seeking a Senior Lawyer to join as Sole UK Counsel with the remit of building up the legal function for the UK businesses. Reporting directly to the General Counsel based in the Americas, this role will be highly autonomous and help shape the future of the brands in the UK..

The Role

Reporting to the General Counsel, the Sole UK Counsel will take charge of all legal issues across the UK and EU, with key duties including:
· Drafting, reviewing and negotiating business-critical commercial contracts with major suppliers, including educating and managing the wider businesses on its key terms;
· Advising on marketing and advertising issues;
· Advising on intellectual property and technology agreements;
· Managing compliance issues and requirements in relation to regulatory bodies;
· Building relationships with colleagues in affiliate offices in Canada, the EU and US; and
· Liaising with key internal stakeholders and providing general commercial and legal advice in response to any ad hoc queries.

The Person

You will have a minimum of 7 years' PQE, ideally with some experience gained in the energy sector. You will have experience of managing business-critical commercial contracts and have sufficient experience to be able to operate as sole UK counsel with a view of growing a team in the future. Managing key relationships with internal and external stakeholders is extremely important for this position.
