This leading and award-winning international commercial law firm is seeking a paralegal or legal executive to join the successful construction practice in Liverpool. With offices across the UK and internationally, the firm delivers advice and strategic guidance spanning the full legal spectrum from non-contentious advisory and transactional work to all forms of commercial litigation. The firm acts for a wide portfolio of clients across a broad range of industry sectors to include retail, insurance, marine, education, health, manufacturing and financial services.
A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a paralegal or legal executive to join the firm's construction and engineering team. The team has seen sequential growth year on year and is one of the largest construction and engineering teams in the North West. Based in Liverpool, the team is a leading force in the sector and deals exclusively with construction and engineering law matters, sector clients and associated services.
The team is a leading force in the field with the solicitors and lawyers having particular expertise in the transport, infrastructure, industrial, developer led residential schemes, oil and gas, healthcare, energy and renewable sectors. Handling a mix of contentious and non-contentious work with an international client base, the successful paralegal or legal executive will be exposed to a unique and varied spread of work covering multiple jurisdictions to include international arbitrations.
An example of recent work includes a gas plant on the Shetland Islands, a new cruise terminal, an airport extension in South America and £100m residential schemes across the UK.
As the team expands further, a paralegal or legal executive is sought to join the team. Whilst the roles will be principally based in the Liverpool office, lawyers are able to fully embrace the agile working policy to include flexible and part-time working.
Main duties will be to be involved in both non-contentious and contentious construction work acting for employers and contractors. You will assist in dispute resolution through litigation, arbitration, adjudication, mediation and negotiation. You will draft pleedings, witness statements and instruct experts, have direct contact with clients throughout the process, draft contracts, prepare reports and due diligence, draft letters, prepare documents for proceedings including claims, witness statements and other documents.
You will be a paralegal or a legal executive with previous construction experience or exposure of working within this area of law. You will have excellent organisational skills, be able to interact professionally with clients and work as part of a team and independently.
Experience within the oil and gas sector and renewable energy sector is advantageous.
