Head of Legal

Company Our client is a fast growing company specialising in innovative logistics and parcel services to retailers, wholesalers and e-commerce companies. The company focuses on smaller parcels such as cosmetics, fashion and health products, and it utilises a range of technology to provide an innovative service that is scalable and agile. The company operates on a global basis offering a service from anywhere to anywhere to over 200+ destinations. Role - Head of Legal / First In-house Counsel To support the business and senior stakeholders, our client seeks to recruit a commercial solicitor (with logistics / parcel delivery experience) to assume the role of Head of Legal / First In-house Counsel. The Head of Legal will have overall responsibility for the legal function, providing comprehensive legal support across all areas of the business. Example responsibilities will include: management of the legal function; providing pragmatic legal advice to the business; overseeing the formulation, planning and implementation of effective legal strategy; taking the lead on regulatory matters including data protection; drafting, negotiating and advising in relation to bespoke client contracts, plus a wide range of commercial supply contracts; providing general commercial and contractual advice; instructing and managing external lawyers; and keeping abreast of developments in law and regulation. About you To assume the role of Head of Legal / First In-house Counsel, you must be an England & Wales qualified commercial solicitor with between 5 and 15 years' PQE. Our client has a strong preference that you have demonstrable experience of international logistics, parcel delivery, warehousing and/or similar. Ideally you will have worked for another logistics business however applications are also welcome from those who have regularly engaged with parcel delivery/logistics companies, for example those working in the retail or e-commerce sectors. Location This role is fully home based and existing team members live near Manchester, London, Scotland and in other regions.
