Interim Legal Counsel

Would you like to work on some of the world's most complex and exciting engineering and technology programmes? Our FTSE listed client seeks to recruit an Interim In-house Counsel to cover a maternity leave due to start in mid-May. Applications are actively encouraged by solicitors with existing in-house experience, and applicants will ideally be comfortable commuting to Lancashire once a week, or a couple of times each month. The remainder of the week can be worked remotely from home or another office location. Company Our client is a global engineering business designing, developing, selling and maintaining high-technology products used around the globe. It is a leading international business and a major employer in the UK, and it has sizeable operations in the North West and other regions. Role - Interim Legal Counsel The in-house legal function is a long-established and well regarded department that is truly embedded within the businesses they support. As part of a first class, collaborative and friendly team, as Interim Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for a varied in-house role covering everything from bids/tenders and contractual requirements, to leading on legal-focussed matters including data protection, litigation/disputes, IP and ad hoc projects. You will work collaboratively with colleagues in legal, compliance, sales and other departments, and as a true legal business partner you will have a high degree of influence and input with key stakeholders on critical business issues. The role is anticipated to start mid-May, although there is an element of flex either way, and the duration of the contract is 12 months. About you It is anticipated that the Interim Legal Counsel will be a UK qualified solicitor with strong commercial nous gained over a number of years working in the legal profession. You will ideally have existing in-house experience and you should be comfortable working on UK and international legal matters. Applicants based in North West England - Lancashire, Cheshire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Cumbria - are a good fit for the office location however our client is open to applications from Interim Legal Counsel living further afield. This role is available to applicants seeking either a 4 or 5 day working week.
