Head of Litigation We have a role for an experienced Lawyer to join a thriving and growing litigation team in the heart of Liverpool. This is a great role for a senior lawyer looking to move to a managing non fee earning role within a vibrant and thriving team. This is an office based role. JOB ROLE: To manage performance of the Litigation Department to ensure a high-quality legal service to the firm's clients To comply with all relevant professional and regulatory obligations. To contribute to the growth and development of the firm To supervise other members of staff as required. To deal with first tier complaints and to audit files To manage set and oversee targets through the use of MI, one to ones, annual reviews. To assist and manage the incoming work, sources of work, business relationships To improve process flows within the case management system to improve efficiencies To train staff both on the system and on the technical nature of Housing disrepair claims in particular and other areas of general litigation Key responsibilities: Manage performance of the Litigation department which shall provide high quality legal services to the firm's clients, predominantly in relation to Housing, but also potentially in respect of other areas such as Data breach, Japanese knotweed, general Litigation etc. Conduct some limited cases but mainly supervise and assist other fee-earners in providing advice and representation to the firm's clients. Manage and set targets, monitoring performance, putting systems in place to ensure compliance and best practice, supervising staff, whilst adopting a commercial approach Work in accordance with detailed procedures and quality standards contained in the Office handbook and contribute where appropriate. Train staff on systems and technical areas of the work and coach them to achieve uniform high standard. Approve and manage wip write offs and disbursements and authorise file closures. Comply with internal procedures and systems of the firm including file and case management, file audits, client due diligence and time recording. Knowledge, skills and qualifications: Qualified Solicitors preferred or over 8 years experience of managing Litigation teams Degree, Solicitor, ILEX desirable Expertise in key areas of law and procedure including Housing disrepair claims, Japanese knotweed, data breach and general Litigation Able to manage the team's caseload with minimal supervision and supervising the entire litigation department. Knowledge and understanding of the SRA and other relevant regulatory requirements. BCL Legal is an equal opportunities employer.
