Lead Environmental & Regulatory Litigator - c. 5 + PQE - Utilities - Cambridgeshire We're working with a well-respected Utilities business based in Cambridgeshire, looking for an Environmental and Regulatory lawyer with significant criminal litigation experience for defendant or prosecutor, to be based out of the Huntingdon or Peterborough office. As the lead Environmental Litigator, you will be responsible for: - defending the business in complex litigation against the regulatory bodies - Advising the business on pollution incidents and associated investigations - liaising with the regulators as well as handling noise/ smell / nuisance matters; bringing warrant of entry applications; and pursing third parties for offences such illegal trade effluent discharges. - Manage the EIR requests. This position will be suitable for someone in private proactive seeking their first move in house, or alternatively, for somebody already working in house, seeking a step up in responsibility in a role that carries a high level of responsibility within the organisation and will require you to manage the most senior stakeholders in the business. Criminal litigation experience is mandatory. Experience of Environmental / Health and Safety prosecution work is desirable but not mandatory. The business is operating a hybrid working policy so some office attendance is required but there is significant flexibility with this.
