Private Client Associate - Leeds

Leading Private Client firm in the UK
Role:
-Working in a team, managing your own caseload, covering a variety of Private Client matters, including:
* meeting clients and advising on inheritance tax mitigation and estate planning matters
*advising on how to structure Wills to facilitate inheritance tax mitigation and/or wealth preservation
*taking instructions for and drafting bespoke Wills incorporating various trust structures and bespoke ancillary documents, and dealing with their execution
* liaising with lawyers in other jurisdictions to advise on and deal with the creation of Wills in respect of clients' foreign assets, and to dovetail clients' UK Wills with their foreign Wills
* advising on business succession planning and liaising with colleagues in our corporate and commercial teams
* advising on and creating Trusts, reviewing existing Trusts and providing ongoing advice to Trustees, and advising on and drafting documents to effect changes in trusteeship, general trustee resolutions, deeds of appointment and documents to record a variation in the terms of a trust, distributions to beneficiaries and winding up a Trust
* dealing with complex issues that require research and discussion with other members of the team
* supervising and delegating work to other team members, as appropriate
* attending STEP lectures, departmental meetings, and introducer meetings
* keeping up to date with changes and developments in the law and undertaking a range of continuing professional development activities
* being involved in business development, networking, and relevant social media activities
Requirements:
minimum of four years' experience as a Private Client Solicitor
* a strong knowledge and understanding of Private Client law
* a STEP qualification, or working towards one, would be an advantage
* team player
* strong attention to detail
* excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to adapt to different clients' circumstances and backgrounds and to articulate and explain potentially complex points in a straightforward and clear manner
* commercially minded
* able to support and mentor others in the team
