BCL Legal are delighted to be working with this award-winning Mid-Tier Law Firm, with their search for a Risk and Compliance Assistant.
During the previous 12 months, our client experienced significant growth and as a result established several new roles across the firms operational and business services team, with the sole objective to provide a streamlined professional support service to the firm's lawyers. Due to the recent hire of a Risk and Compliance Manager, our client has identified a growing need to build the compliance team with the recruitment of their first ever Compliance Assistant.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within the Legal Risk and Compliance Space, with a keen interest in AML work, and as the team is set to grow this year there will be opportunity for career progression and the chance to undertake supervisory responsibilities further down the line.
Reporting directly to the firms Risk and Compliance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the firm's operational activity and a large proportion of your role will include working on Client on boarding matters, working in close collaboration with the firms Lawyer Group and Secretaries.
You will deal with client queries on source of fund queries and jurisdictions, ensuring the client files are up to date in addition to organising and attending quarterly Risk and Compliance Meetings. You will work in close collaboration with the wider team on all aspects of Anti Money Laundering and Due Diligence in addition to advising on and dealing with client and third party complaints.

For this role, you will need significant experience of working in a Legal risk & compliance role, preferably within a law firm, with excellent written & verbal communication skills, excellent IT skills, strong commercial awareness, attention to detail and a knowledge of both Data Protection law and Financial Conduct Authority legislation. In addition, you will be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of AML and be an effective trouble-shooter.
Candidates who have worked in a Financial Services setting looking to transfer into a Legal Environment will also be considered. However please not when applying you will need to be (or become) a subject matter expert on our clients AML tool (SmartSearch) and use that knowledge to ensure that the firm complies fully with AML regulations.
