In-House Counsel - Risk & Compliance (2+ PQE) - Manchester An excellent opportunity has arisen for a compliance lawyer to join the In-House Risk & Compliance team of a leading international law firm working in the Manchester office. In this non-fee earning role you would focus on ensuring that the firm has policies and procedures in place and on ensuring compliance with new legislative and regulatory requirements. Hybrid working as standard, flexible working patterns and both full and part-time applicants considered. The Role * Working as part of the In-House Risk & Compliance team, you would ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory obligations of the firm. * Managing the insurance, claims and In-House legal matters. * Overseeing other issues affecting the risk profile and reputation of the firm. * Advising the firm at a strategic level on various risk and compliance issues. * Developing and rolling out risk and compliance initiatives across the business. * Developing and implementing compliance programmes to address legal and regulatory changes that impact the firm. * Assisting in the firm with new office openings internationally. * Advising the firm on various governance and ethical issues, including SRA compliance. * Liaising with regulatory bodies as necessary on behalf of the firm including reporting misconduct to the SRA. Candidate Requirements * As In-House Counsel you will be a qualified lawyer with a minimum of two years' PQE, preferably with experience from a risk and compliance environment either in private practice or at a regulatory authority. * An ability to understand and interpret complex law in a variety of areas (familiarity with international governance structures would be useful). * Strong communication and negotiation skills. * Confident engaging with colleagues at all levels. * A strong attention to detail. * An energetic, enthusiastic personality.
