LEVC (London Electric Vehicle Company) are seeking their first Head of Legal to be based in their brand new Headquarters in Ansty, near Coventry.
LEVC is the manufacturer of the iconic London Black Cab which is utilised in over 40 major cities worldwide.
In 2013 Zhejiang Geely Holding Group (Geely) acquired the London Taxi Company bringing the business out of administration, safeguarding 100s of jobs and saving an iconic UK automotive brand. Since then the partnership between Geely and LEVC, has resulted in £500m of investment, the creation of up to 1,000 new jobs and the opening of the UK's first full scale car plant dedicated to the production of new energy vehicles. The investment has been backed by both the UK and Chinese governments and is now seen as a symbol of cooperation between the two countries.
In July 2019 the 2,500th Taxi rolled off the production line preventing 6,800 tonnes of CO2 from entering the atmosphere.
The Head of Legal is a newly formed role at LEVC. LEVC are seeking an individual who demonstrates technical brilliance, commercial acumen and a true passion for their iconic brand. The aim of the role will be to be the first point of contact for all pre-external legal advice, and ultimately responsible for managing all legal matters associated with running and expanding the group.
Main duties and responsibilities
This is a generalist In-house role and will suit a lawyer with a diverse skill set your main areas of responsibility will be:
· Commercial Contracts, including procurement, supplier, dealer contracts and some IT/IP matters
· Banking and Finance
· Corporate Governance, Company Secretarial and Compliance
You will be responsible for the group legal budget including the appointment and relationship management of the external lawyers. You will also partner closely with internal stakeholders providing support to shape best practice including the EU office in Frankfurt.
You will keep up to date with legislative changes that may impact the organisation and ensure compliance of these matters.
LEVC are keen to secure a person who is the right 'fit' and the personality of the successful candidate is key to this appointment. You will be an individual who is supportive of innovation and has strong change management skills with a high level of integrity and business ethics.
The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and a professional attitude at all times. You will be proactive and self-confident - willing to take on a hands-on approach to your work load.
The ideal candidate will be a lawyer with an automotive background and manufacturing experience. You will have at least 8 years PQE with a mix of private practice and in-house experience.
