White Collar Crime Solicitor - City of London - Private Practice
Tier 1 global, award winning, law firm has retained us to recruit a talented Associate/ Senior Associate due to continued, strategic, expansion.
The Team
The team regularly acts in highly sensitive, multifaceted criminal and regulatory matters, for both individuals and businesses. They represent and defend clients facing prosecutions and investigations by prosecutorial and regulatory bodies. With extensive experience at the SFO, FCA, OFSI and the criminal bar, the team is able to provide pragmatic advice and insights. They also assist in carrying out internal investigations, guiding clients from responding to an initial report or suspicion to conducting sophisticated reviews and advising on applicable reporting requirements.
While the core team is based in our UK and Middle East practices, they work closely with colleagues across a wide number of jurisdictions. Given the firms prominence on the world stage, they are familiar with the unique cultural, economic and legal idiosyncrasies that can affect investigations and regulatory obligations in different jurisdictions and can assist clients to navigate these confidently.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an Associate/ Senior Associate to join the growing business crime and investigations practice. You will work with financial institutions and large corporations in relation to complex internal and external investigations and regulatory enforcement proceedings on a range of matters. Your role will also involve advising institutions and individuals on financial crime compliance, including in relation to fraud, money laundering, and bribery and corruption issues, often in collaboration with our overseas offices.
Drawing upon the industry knowledge and strength of our transactional and regulatory practices in all major financial centres around the globe, you will gain unparalleled experience and play a fundamental role in building the practice within London.
This is a fascinating and challenging role and an excellent opportunity for a Solicitor, who is passionate about progressing their career within a global firm and in supporting the ongoing growth of the practice.
You will maintain client relationships, contribute to business development and thought leadership, raise your own profile and support the continued growth of the practice.
We would be particularly interested in hearing from ambitious 3-5 year pqe lawyers, however we will consider talented candidates outside of that range.
The Candidate
You will have:
· English law legal knowledge gained within a top-tier city firm
· Strong academic record
· Experience in internal investigations for financial institutions and/or corporates
· Experience of regulatory investigations in including FCA, SFO and/or law enforcement
· Experience of handling regulatory and enforcement agency requests
· Experience of legal and regulatory requirements in relation to fraud, anti-money laundering/terrorist financing, the UK Bribery Act and the Proceeds of Crime Act
· Ability to work with a degree of independence
· Exceptional drafting skills and legal research ability
