EMPLOYMENT SOLICITOR 4+ PQE - NEWCASTLE THE FIRM: - International law firm with awarding winning Employment team in Newcastle - Highly recognised Legal 500 listed and Chambers rated Employment team - One of the largest Employment teams in the Country - Client base includes a large number of household names and FTSE 100 and 250 companies THE ROLE: - A rare hire at this level - the Employment team of this international firm is looking to recruit an experienced Employment Solicitor with a minimum of 4 years PQE - You will be working with their impressive and diverse national and international client base including FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 companies as well as public sector clients such as local government, policing, education, health and third sector - You will be advising clients on a broad range of respondent law matters including equal pay/gender pay, pensions, international project management, and business immigration with particular sector expertise in financial services, health and education - You will have responsibility for managing (with supervision where required) Employment Tribunal matters, which is likely to include: - Preparing first drafts of pleadings, witness statements and instructions to Counsel; - Liaising with clients, Counsel, the Tribunal and colleagues from across the client business - Meeting tribunal deadlines - Preliminary hearings - Advocacy work - Dealing with disclosures - You will also undertake the following: - Providing business immigration advice to clients (experience in business immigration is not essential) - Providing non-contentious employment advice to clients on a range of issues such as discipline/grievance matters, drafting Settlement Agreements, contracts and policy documents - There is also the opportunity to become involved with the supervision and management of more junior members of the team THE REQUIREMENTS: - The successful candidate must have a minimum of 4 years PQE in Respondent Employment Law - The team will consider hiring at Associate or Senior Associate level depending on experience - Contentious experience is a must for this role, and experience of conducting your own advocacy is important - Business immigration experience is desirable, but not essential for this role.
