EMPLOYMENT SOLICITOR 4+ PQE - NEWCASTLE THE FIRM: - International law firm - One of the largest and most highly regarded Employment teams in the Country - Award winning Employment team in Newcastle acting for a large number of household names THE ROLE: - This is an exciting opportunity to join an award winning Employment Team who rarely recruit at this level - The team are currently acting for a very diverse client base, some in the North East, but predominantly national and international FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 companies as well as a range of public sector clients to include local government, policing, education, health and third sector clients - The team specialise in advising on equal pay/gender pay, pensions, international project management, and business immigration with particular sector expertise in financial services, health and education - You will have responsibility for managing (with supervision where required) Employment Tribunal matters, which is likely to include: - Preparing first drafts of pleadings, witness statements and instructions to Counsel; - Liaising with clients, Counsel, the Tribunal and colleagues from across the client business - Meeting tribunal deadlines - Preliminary hearings - Advocacy work - Dealing with disclosures - You will also undertake the following: - Providing business immigration advice to clients (experience in business immigration is not essential) - Providing non-contentious employment advice to clients on a range of issues such as discipline/grievance matters, drafting Settlement Agreements, contracts and policy documents - There is also the opportunity to become involved with the supervision and management of more junior members of the team THE REQUIREMENTS: - You will be a qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 4 years PQE in Respondent Employment Law - You may join the team at Associate or Senior Associate level depending on experience - Contentious experience is a must for this role, and experience of conducting your own advocacy is important - Business immigration experience is desirable, but not essential for this role.
