In house Senior Legal Counsel - Construction / Projects

THE COMPANY This is a major UK business , and one of the leaders in its field, with several thousand employees, and operating in a highly environmentally conscious sector THE ROLE The business is now looking to recruit a Senior Legal Counsel to the 5 strong team based(partly) in Yorkshire. Essentially the wide ranging role would to be the key legal lead of managing existing, and building new, green energy plants around the UK. You would take on responsibility for all legal and contractual matters for the construction, operation, maintenance and running of these ventures, interacting with senior stakeholders within the business on what is a major area of expansion. The business already has significant operations in this area and it is a key focus for the future. It is a high calibre team, an environmentally focused business and offers a very wide range of interesting legal work of a construction / projects nature. ABOUT YOU Given a lot of the work will be around high value and complex CapEx projects, a lawyer with significant construction, engineering or projects background would be most suited to this role. However, it will not just be churning through JCT agreements, and the diversity of the role will mean you may be dealing with corporate matters, restructuring, finance contracts, PPA's and a whole host of other matters. You will need the ability to operate outside your comfort zone, learning new areas of law outside your core expertise. ADDITIONAL This is a superb opportunity to get involved in a complex business taking on a highly interesting and challenging role. Salary will probably be in the £80k-£90k bracket, with a good bonus / benefits. They operate a hybrid working model, with a couple of days in the Yorkshire office typically, but are not dogmatic about this.
