Senior In house Legal Counsel - Projects / Construction

THE COMPANY An exceptional opportunity has arisen to join an entrepreneurial organization in the energy sector, in their established high calibre team, The business is the UK division of a leading European energy group, which owns over EUR 16 bn of assets and employs 25,000 people. The UK business itself has revenues over EUR 1.5 bn, operates a very entrepreneurial culture with a flat leadership structure, enabling fast decision making to optimise market positions. They own multiple renewable and flexible power generating assets, and is at the forefront of the decarbonisation efforts across the energy industry. THE ROLE Our client is now looking to further bolster their existing legal team, one role of which is the recruitment of a Legal Manager, to take on a diverse construction / projects related role. Given the nature of their operations you would work on a variety of construction and projects related matters, but you need also to have the confidence to step outside your comfort zone and work on a variety of other legal matters that would arise from time to time, procurement, litigation, commercial contracts etc. This is a wide-ranging role and would suit someone wishing to expand their remit from the necessarily narrower role you might find in a law firm. ABOUT YOU As well as technical skills, personality fit within this business is key, and you'll need to be someone who enjoys taking on significant responsibility, and you'll probably have at least 6 years pqe to undertake the role. A carefully scripted advice note is not what you'll be providing, but broad commercial legal advice on a range of matters to enable the business to achieve their goals ADDITIONAL Hybrid working is the norm, with a couple of days a week in their Leeds office.
