Head of Legal

THE BUSINESS A major international consumer healthcare and pharmaceutical business is seeking to recruit a Head of Legal to take on a key strategic role for their Yorkshire based UK operations. THE OPPORTUINITY Reporting to the Managing Director of the UK business and operating at Senior Executive level, you will be a true business partner and act as a trusted advisor for all businesses and functions within the UK group. This might include drafting, advising and negotiating on a wide variety of agreements (distribution, manufacturing, supply etc); identifying training needs amongst stakeholders on relevant legal and compliance issues; managing and mitigating legal and compliance risks by designing and implementing policies and procedures on industry specific issues; coordinating and instructing external legal counsel; and horizon scanning to help the business anticipate changes in the regulatory environment. It is a strategic level role needing a diverse range of legal and business skills. ABOUT YOU You'll be able to demonstrate entrepreneurial thinking, sound commercial and legal judgement, and have the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, helping provide strategic directions with your strong business acumen. You will be an experienced commercial lawyer, probably with at least 10 years PQE to have gained the experience needed to make a success of the role. Pharmaceutical and Life Science will be of obvious use, or if you have a strong track record gained in a related sectors (for example the FMCG sector), and the aptitude to take on a new challenge, this may be a role of interest to you. Alternatively, if you are currently working in a law firm and have strong industry sector knowledge this could be an exceptional move in house, leveraging your specific technical skillset and industry knowledge to move into a senior business role. ADDITIONAL DETAILS The business operates a hybrid working pattern where you would work in the office 3 days a week and from home. The offices are based an easy commute from Leeds and Manchester.
