  • Freshfields has appointed three new global leaders. These are: Rick van Aerssen in corporate; Caroline Stroud in employment, pensions and benefits; and David Scott in the dispute resolution group.
  • Norton Rose Fulbright has announced that global chief executive Peter Martyr will continue as global chief executive for a further three year term. Martin Scott has also been confirmed as the new managing partner of the firm.
  • James Wilson is stepping down as international senior partner at Ince & Co. Jan Heuvels will succeed this position along with Paul Herring who will assume the new role of chairman.
  • Berkeley Law has been acquired by Irwin Mitchell. As part of this transaction, directors Nick Rucker, Alexandra Ruffel and Tim Thornton-Jones become partners at Irwin Mitchell.
  • Cathryn Vanderspar has been welcomed as the new head of the London tax team at Eversheds. Matthew Kelly has also been appointed as a partner in the education employment team.
  • Ray Berg has been appointed at Osborne Clarke as the UK managing partner. He succeeds Simon Beswick as managing partner who will continue as CEO of Osborne Clarke International.
  • Charles Russell and Speechly Bircham have now merged to form Charles Russell Speechlys.
