Happy New Year! Happy New You! Happy New Job!
So the Christmas decorations are back in the roof, the children are back at school and you are struggling to get back into the daily routine of your life - sound familiar?
January heralds the start of many good intentions - do you have a list of New Year Resolutions to try and stick to for as long as possible? Perhaps you intend to religiously go to the gym, wish to lose weight, reduce/cut out alcohol (dry January seems a popular notion this year!) or just improve your lifestyle and make sure it is as healthy as possible? If so, 'Good luck!' on keeping your New Year Resolutions and hopefully the New Year will definitely see a new you, however one other thing to consider which has just as big an impact on your mental and physical wellbeing as all of the above Resolution goals - are you happy in your job?
Successfully adhering to your New Year Resolutions might make you feel good about yourself and give you more confidence, but there will still be an element of unease, dissatisfaction and stress in your life if you are stuck in a job that you hate. If you are stressed or concerned about any aspect of your job or workplace, this can have an overwhelming effect on your general state of wellbeing and no amount of diet or exercise is going to improve that situation. Maybe you are not working at the moment which could be causing you different additional concerns, therefore perhaps you have decided that this New Year is the time to return to the workplace and to take control of your career again?
