Why move to Manchester?

During the final quarter of 2016, Manchester’s economy performed strongly, therefore making it one of the top three fastest growing UK cities. According to Irwin Mitchells UK Powerhouse report, Manchester achieved growth of 2.8% in comparison to the same point in 2016.

The report shows that employment levels have increased by 1.7%, beating other major cities to include the capital and the economy has grown to £16.8bn in the 12 months to Q4 2016.

For anyone considering relocation, here are a few key reasons to seriously consider a move to the city of Manchester:

Cost of living - Average house prices in London are four times higher than Manchester in comparison to average salaries being approximately one third higher in London.

World class universities – Manchester has more than 80,000 students and Manchester University has more than 25 Nobel Prize winners amongst its past and present staff and students.

International transport links – Manchester is home to the third busiest airport in the UK after Heathrow and Gatwick.

Outside space - Being on the doorstep of the countryside with the Peak District and the Lake District in easy reach and National Trust gems Dunham Massey and Lyme Park.

Sporting Capital of the UK – United…City…and of course there is the Manchester Aquatics Centre, Regional Athletics Arena, National Quash Centre, Manchester Velodrome, Old Trafford Cricket Ground and the National Football Museum housed in the Old Urbis building.

Shopping - Manchester is the premier shopping destination outside of London according to the latest retail market research by Colliers International. The research ranks Manchester alongside other worldwide leaders such as Milan, Paris and Dubai.

The on going regeneration of the city centre including the restoration of historic buildings, new office space, residential development and new bars and restaurants is all part of Manchester’s status as the capital of the Northern Powerhouse.
