“Work in Progress” What about Work and Progress? (Part 1)

We all know too well the phrase “work in progress”, the phrase we don’t hear often enough is work and progress.

Here is a little information about me, my career and the skills that I have used to develop my career. I started my career as a legal secretary for a solicitor who specialised in prison law/crime. I left to progress my career and started working for a boutique firm in south Manchester who specialised in personal injury and was promoted to PA to head of the EL/PL department. Alongside working full time and being a young mum, I started to study my law degree part time in the evenings, but found that this had a massive impact on my family life. I decided to quit studying in a hope that I would be able to study my law degree the CILEX route whilst I was working, however, this option never materialised for me.

In January 2014, I made a life changing decision to change my career path.

I joined BCL Legal on a temp basis in January 2014 as an administrator. Within 3 weeks I was offered a permanent position and promoted to a Team Assistant supporting the North West Private Practice team, thanks to my can do attitude. 18 months on and I have once again been promoted, this time to a Legal Recruitment Consultant placing legal professionals in the North West who specialise in the personal injury sector.

In my next blog, I will detail 5 skills that I focussed on in order to achieve this!
