The firm / team:
· Successful candidates can look forward to joining a truly global US law firm, looking to strengthen their Disputes offering with the addition of a talented junior Associate.
· They have a reputation for the resolution of complex and ground-breaking international disputes, across both commercial litigation, and international arbitration.
· They handle high-profile corporate and sovereign State dispute cases with a seamless service.
· The firm specialises in high value and complex cases featuring international elements such as different domestic laws and arbitration seats, and clients and co-counsel based outside England and Wales.
. The Head of Disputes handles a mixture of international arbitration (both commercial and investment treaty), in addition to English High Court litigation.
The role:
· As an Arbitration Associate within the team, you can expect to undertake a broad range of work with a supportive, burgeoning, new Disputes department.
· The firm are looking for someone capable of developing into a trusted advisor to their biggest clients.
· Working with clients in the aviation, oil and gas, mining and resources, insurance and reinsurance, private equity, telecommunications, technology, banking, and pharmaceutical industries.
· Advising on the procedural requirements under the CPR and practices before the English Courts.
· Advising on complex commercial litigation, including risk audit, litigation avoidance strategies, as well as litigation, arbitration and mediations.
. Handling a range of disputes involving, intellectual property, information technology, insurance, employment, banking, real property, and injunctive relief.
· Working closely with partners and other colleagues across the firm to formulate case theory and strategy on high-value, complex international arbitration cases.
· You will be handling commercial and investment treaty arbitration work across various jurisdictions.
About you:
· Applications are sought from talented Disputes Associates, or trainees, with up to two years' of post qualification experience, gained in England & Wales or a similar, leading common law jurisdiction.
· You will possess strong academics, and a confident understanding of employment law, ideally from a Top 30/Legal 500 background.
· Candidates should have strong organisation skills and a keen interest in joining one of the world's most specialised firms.
· You will have a high degree of familiarity with English arbitration law and the rules of key arbitration institutions such as the ICC, LCIA, SIAC, and ICSID is key.
