BCL Legal is delighted to be working in partnership with a leading international law firm to recruit a Public Procurement & State Aid Solicitor (2-6 years PQE) to join its highly regarded Competition, EU & Trade team based in Birmingham.
The Role
This is an exceptional opportunity to join a dynamic and expanding team that advises on some of the UK's most high-profile and complex public procurement, UK subsidy control, and EU State aid matters.
As part of this specialist team, you will:
· Advise a broad client base from both public and private sectors on the Public Contracts Regulations 2015, the forthcoming Procurement Act 2023, and related legal frameworks.
· Assist in resolving procurement disputes, judicial reviews, and advising on major infrastructure and development projects.
· Provide guidance on UK subsidy control, EU State aid regulations, and international trade matters, navigating a rapidly evolving regulatory environment.
· Work collaboratively with colleagues across national and international offices on cross-jurisdictional matters.
Candidate Requirements
We are seeking a candidate who:
· Is a qualified solicitor with between 2-6 years' post-qualification experience and a background (or keen interest) in public procurement, subsidy control, or State aid law.
· Possesses strong technical, drafting, and analytical skills, with a commercial and solutions-focused approach to legal advice.
· Has an excellent academic track record and a genuine enthusiasm for legal and regulatory developments.
· Enjoys working in a team environment, is confident with client engagement, and is eager to play a role in the continued growth of the practice.
