Public Procurement Associate | 3-5 PQE | Leading National Firm | Birmingham
A leading national law firm is seeking to recruit a talented Associate (3-5 years' PQE) to join its highly respected Procurement team, based in Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a Tier 1-ranked team advising on a broad range of complex, high-profile procurement matters across both the public and private sectors.
The Opportunity
You will join a team at the forefront of procurement law in the UK, advising a diverse client base including central and local government, housing providers, NHS trusts, and private sector bidders. You'll be working closely with a Chambers-ranked partner, with exposure to market-leading work and genuine opportunities for progression.
Key Responsibilities:
Advising on procurement strategies, procedures, and compliance under a wide range of regulations including the Public Contracts Regulations, Utilities and Concessions Regulations, the Procurement Act, and Provider Selection Regime.
· Drafting and reviewing procurement documentation such as tender notices, evaluation criteria, SQs, ITTs, and transparency notices.
· Providing practical and risk-based legal advice on procurement issues, structures, and processes.
· Supporting clients through contentious procurement matters including challenges and reviews.
· Actively contributing to business development initiatives including writing thought leadership content, speaking at industry events, and networking.
· Engaging in team training, sector working groups, and mentoring of junior team members.
About You:
· A qualified solicitor with 3-5 years' PQE and solid experience in public procurement law.
· Demonstrable interest in procurement, subsidy control, or state aid, and an understanding of sectors such as housing, local government, health, care, or construction.
· Strong technical legal skills and a commercial, solution-focused approach.
· A confident communicator with excellent client-handling skills and a collaborative working style.
· Organised, proactive, and committed to ongoing development.
