Construction Partner | National Law Firm | Birmingham BCL Legal is delighted to be working with a respected and growing national law firm in search of a Construction Partner to lead and develop their Birmingham-based construction practice. This is a rare opportunity for a construction specialist, whether contentious, non-contentious, or with a mixed practice, to take on a leadership role with the backing of a well-established national platform. This role is ideal for an established partner or ambitious senior lawyer (10+ PQE) with a clear vision to build and lead a team in the Midlands. The Role As Construction Partner, you will: · Take the lead in establishing and growing the Birmingham-based construction offering as part of the firm's ambitious national expansion strategy. · Work within a national Construction, Engineering and Procurement team that has grown turnover by 400% over the past decade. · Join a team ranked in Legal 500 and Chambers UK, known for high-profile work and expertise in both contentious and non-contentious construction matters. · Leverage a strong national client base including developers, funders, social housing providers (including G15 members), and public sector bodies. · Engage in business development activity, helping to grow the firm's brand and client base across the Midlands. · Play a strategic role in the leadership of the wider construction group. About You To be successful in your application for this Construction Partner opportunity, you will have: · A minimum of 10 years' PQE (England and Wales) as a construction lawyer, partner status not essential but demonstrable leadership potential is key. · Significant experience in either contentious or non-contentious construction work, or a blend of both. · Ambition to build and lead a team, and to be a key part of the firm's expansion in the Midlands. · Strong commercial acumen and a proactive approach to business development. · Excellent knowledge of construction-related legislation, particularly the Building Safety Act 2022 and the Construction Act. · A track record of client development and a portable client base or referral network would be highly advantageous. · Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, collegiate mindset.
