Compliance Manager | National Law Firm | Birmingham / Flexible Hybrid Working BCL Legal is pleased to be exclusively supporting a leading national law firm in their search for a Compliance Assurance Manager to join their General Counsel team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in embedding compliance excellence across a dynamic and expanding legal business. The Role As Compliance Assurance Manager, you will lead the assurance activities within the General Counsel department, acting as a key ambassador for the firm's compliance obligations, culture, and standards. You will oversee the Compliance Assurance audit team, ensuring best practices are implemented and embedded in line with the firm's values and strategic objectives. Your responsibilities will include: · Managing the day-to-day delivery of the Compliance Assurance audit team's work, ensuring quality and timely outcomes. · Motivating and developing your team by fostering a positive working environment and supporting their career progression. · Working closely with Compliance Business Partners to drive focused improvements across the business. · Managing audit priorities and projects, ensuring effective resolution of complex compliance queries. · Evaluating and enhancing processes and controls to meet regulatory obligations and the firm's policies. · Leading the Compliance Assurance team's strategy and actively contributing to the wider regulatory agenda. · Recruiting, developing, and retaining a high-performing team, setting clear objectives and personal development plans. About You The ideal candidate will bring: · Experience in a compliance or in-house legal function, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment. · Familiarity with Law Society/SRA compliance requirements or equivalent regulatory frameworks. · Proven ability to manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines. · Strong stakeholder management skills with experience engaging at all levels of an organisation. · Excellent attention to detail and strong drafting skills. · Effective organisational and prioritisation abilities. · A proactive approach to networking and building relationships internally. · A commitment to working with integrity and aligning with the firm's core values of being pioneering, approachable, tenacious, and efficient.
