Education Solicitor - NQ+ | Leading National Law Firm | Birmingham/Hybrid BCL Legal is delighted to be recruiting an Associate to join a nationally recognised Education team at a leading UK law firm. This full-time, permanent role is based in Birmingham with hybrid working options (up to three days from home). The Role As an Associate in the Education team, you will: · Advise schools, academies, and higher education institutions on a wide range of legal issues, including safeguarding, SEND, data protection, governance, and discrimination law. · Work with a top-tier, nationally ranked team known for its dynamic approach and sector expertise. · Be involved in both contentious and non-contentious matters, depending on your experience and interests. · Manage your own caseload while receiving support from experienced senior lawyers. · Assist in the preparation of client-facing content and contribute to business development initiatives. What does the role actually involve? · Providing timely, clear, and commercially relevant advice to clients within the education sector. · Handling a varied caseload of matters relating to policy, student issues, safeguarding, regulatory compliance, and more. · Supporting clients through complex, sensitive issues, ensuring compliance with current legislation and best practice. · Collaborating with internal colleagues across the wider commercial, employment, and regulatory teams. · Contributing to training sessions, seminars, and publications relevant to the education sector. What skills and experience are required? · Qualified solicitor (NQ-2 years PQE), although candidates with more experience are welcome to apply. · A genuine interest in the education sector, with some prior exposure to education, public law, or regulatory matters. · Excellent drafting and advisory skills, with the ability to communicate complex information effectively. · Commercial awareness and the ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues alike. · Proficiency with Microsoft Office, MS Teams, and document management systems.
