Intellectual Property Legal Director | Leading National Firm | Birmingham / Hybrid Working BCL Legal is pleased to be partnering with a prestigious national law firm in their search for a senior Intellectual Property lawyer to join their thriving Commercial team in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for a Legal Director - or an experienced Senior Associate ready to take the next step - with strong non-contentious IP expertise and a passion for client engagement and team development. The Opportunity This role represents a strategic hire within a leading commercial practice. As Intellectual Property Legal Director, you will take the lead on high-level advisory work across non-contentious IP matters, working alongside colleagues in corporate, commercial and technology to deliver seamless client service. You'll have genuine autonomy, access to top-quality work, and the chance to play a key role in shaping the firm's IP offering. What You'll Be Doing · Acting as the lead advisor on non-contentious IP issues, including brand strategy, licensing, IP commercialisation, and due diligence. · Advising on all forms of intellectual property rights - including trademarks, copyright, design rights, and confidential information. · Providing strategic IP input on corporate transactions and cross-disciplinary matters. · Collaborating with other teams to deliver comprehensive, commercial legal solutions. · Building and nurturing long-term client relationships through practical, commercially-savvy advice. · Contributing to the leadership and development of the IP team, including mentoring junior lawyers. · Working on a hybrid basis, typically 2-3 days per week in the Birmingham office. About You We're looking for someone who: · Is a qualified solicitor with deep experience in intellectual property law. · Has significant expertise in non-contentious IP work (some contentious experience is helpful, but not essential). · Brings sharp commercial insight and strong negotiation and drafting skills. · Is comfortable advising clients directly and tailoring solutions to their needs. · Has experience managing or mentoring others - or a clear ambition to do so. · Enjoys working collaboratively and is motivated by the opportunity to help grow a practice.
