Transactional Construction Solicitor - Senior/Principal Associate | National Law Firm | Birmingham Overview BCL Legal is delighted to be assisting a market-leading national law firm in its recruitment of a Senior/Principal Associate for its Transactional Construction team in Birmingham. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced solicitor to join a leading practice and work on complex, innovative projects with a diverse range of clients across both public and private sectors. The firm is particularly focused on areas such as Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), especially with regards to achieving net-zero targets. The Role As a Senior/Principal Associate in the Transactional Construction team, you will: · Advise clients on significant and diverse construction and engineering projects, including those within the energy, housing, retail, and infrastructure sectors. · Draft, amend, and negotiate construction documents including JCT, NEC, and bespoke contracts, as well as collateral warranties, parent company guarantees, and bonds. · Support with advising on construction obligations in property documents and assist with corporate, real estate, and funding due diligence. · Provide legal research and practical advice across high-value projects. · Collaborate with clients and in-house legal teams to deliver commercial, cost-effective legal solutions. · Participate in business development, including writing blogs, leading seminars, and providing thought leadership on key construction issues like net-zero. About You To succeed in this role, you will have: · 5+ years' PQE in transactional construction law with strong post-qualification experience. · A solid background in drafting construction and procurement documentation, including JCT and NEC suites. · Strong experience in advising on the full range of construction matters, from pre-contract to post-completion. · Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and an ability to build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders. · A proactive, commercial mindset with a focus on delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions. · Strong IT literacy and research skills, with an ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively.
