Contentious Construction Associate | 1-5 years PQE | International Firm | Birmingham BCL Legal is pleased to assist a leading international law firm in seeking an Associate to join its Contentious Construction team in Birmingham. This opportunity is offered on a full-time, permanent basis with flexible working options available, including hybrid working. Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package on offer. The Role As a Contentious Construction Associate in this highly respected team, you will: · Advise clients on high-value, high-profile construction and engineering disputes across multiple sectors, including infrastructure, water, energy, natural resources, defence/aerospace, life sciences, and more. · Act for a diverse range of clients, including property developers, contractors, funders, purchasers, tenants, and major corporates, in complex, high-stakes disputes. · Get involved in ground-breaking, landmark cases, such as major disputes arising from high-profile construction projects. · Collaborate closely with senior partners and be part of a team that represents clients in global arbitration, high court litigation, and other adversarial proceedings, both in the UK and internationally. About You To be successful in your application for this Contentious Construction Associate role, you will have: · 1-5 years PQE with experience in construction disputes, gained either in private practice or in-house. · Proven ability to provide pragmatic and commercial legal advice to a variety of clients, including contractors, developers, and public sector bodies. · Exposure to contentious matters within construction law, including Building Safety Act experience, would be an advantage. · Excellent time management, organisation skills, and the ability to work under pressure in a high-paced environment. · Strong drafting, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. · A team player who thrives in a collaborative environment and is comfortable interacting with clients under appropriate supervision. · Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
