Commercial Technology Lawyer

Commercial Technology Associate (1-6 yr PQE) | National Law Firm / Birmingham | Hybrid BCL Legal is pleased to be assisting a top-ranked national law firm in its search for an Associate (1-6 yr PQE) to join its Commercial Technology team in Birmingham. The Role As an Associate in the Commercial Technology team, you will: · Advise clients on the legal and commercial aspects of technology procurements, including IT, IP, and data protection issues. · Draft and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including IT outsourcings, business process outsourcings, and service level arrangements. · Provide advice on complex implementation, transition, and exit arrangements. · Assist clients across key sectors, such as government, financial services, insurance, automotive, and health. · Build and maintain strong client relationships, contributing to business development initiatives and sector engagement. · Work closely with colleagues across the firm's office network, collaborating on complex matters and contributing to cross-office projects. About You To be successful in your application, you will have: · A minimum of 1-6 years' PQE, with experience in providing legal advice on technology procurements and major or complex projects. · A strong background in IT outsourcings or business process outsourcings, preferably in the public or private sectors, with an understanding of privacy law and intellectual property. · Foundation knowledge of public sector procurement rules and the FCA/PRA regulatory framework is advantageous. · Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to digest and assimilate large contracts and complex commercial information. · Strong organizational and project management skills, with a capacity to work on multiple matters simultaneously. · A commercial mindset and the ability to find practical solutions to client challenges. · A collaborative approach to working with teams and clients, with the ability to take initiative and work independently when needed.
