Professional Support Lawyer | Commercial Contracts & Data Protection | 5-7+ PQE | Competitive Salary | Leading International Law Firm | Birmingham | Hybrid Working | Full Time BCL Legal is pleased to be working with a leading international law firm to recruit a Professional Support Lawyer (PSL) to support its Commercial Contracts and Data Protection practice in Birmingham. This is a full-time, permanent role offering a flexible hybrid working model, combining office and home working. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commercial lawyer to move into a strategic, non-fee-earning role at the heart of a modern, forward-thinking practice. The role would suit an established PSL or a senior fee earner with strong experience in commercial contracts and data protection who is looking to transition into knowledge, innovation and training. The Role Working closely with partners, lawyers and business services teams, the Professional Support Lawyer will play a key role in shaping and delivering legal knowledge, know-how and training across the Commercial Contracts and Data Protection practice. Key responsibilities will include: · Monitoring legal developments, cases and consultations and disseminating key updates to the wider team. · Providing technical guidance and responding to legal queries from fee earners. · Developing, maintaining and enhancing precedents, practice notes and standard working practices. · Supporting knowledge management systems, intranet content and legal databases in collaboration with IT and Marketing teams. · Leading and contributing to innovation initiatives, including advising on the use of AI tools and process improvements. · Carrying out strategic legal research and advising on legal and compliance issues alongside risk and management teams. · Identifying training needs and designing and delivering internal training programmes and workshops. · Mentoring lawyers and supporting the development of high-quality, evidence-led legal content. · Producing client-facing materials such as articles, briefings and newsletters. · Supporting client engagement initiatives, including client training, seminars, bids and tenders, and attending external events where required. Occasional travel may be required. About You To be considered for this role, you will have: · Qualification as a solicitor in England & Wales with ideally five to seven years' PQE or more. · Strong technical expertise in commercial contracts and data protection (knowledge of public procurement law is advantageous but not essential). · A genuine interest in knowledge management, training, innovation and legal technology. · Previous experience as a PSL or involvement in knowledge, training or innovation projects (desirable but not essential). · Experience in preparing and delivering training sessions (desirable but not essential). · Excellent drafting, communication and presentation skills. · Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. · A collaborative approach and a commercial mindset, with enthusiasm for knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
