BCL Legal is pleased to be assisting a long-established and highly respected national law firm, in its search for a Real Estate (Development) Solicitor to join its growing team in Birmingham. The Role
As a Solicitor in the Real Estate Development team, you will:
· Specialise in site acquisition and development projects for a diverse client base, including registered providers, private developers, investment funds, and more.
· Take on a range of property-related legal matters, from negotiating development agreements, conditional contracts, and advising on potential title issues to managing legal completion and post-completion requirements.
· Provide support on larger projects such as joint ventures, regeneration, and care-related developments, working closely with two partners while contributing to the broader growth of the team.
· Engage in detailed due diligence processes, including title review and reporting on land acquisition contracts, development agreements, plot/block/phase leases, and transfers.
· Advise on infrastructure and statutory agreements related to development sites, section 106 agreements, and planning consents.
· Gain exposure to high-profile transactions and large-scale portfolio acquisitions and disposals.
· Be actively involved in client communication, providing regular progress updates and ensuring deadlines are met with the highest standards of client service.
· Contribute to the team's success, meeting fee targets, and fostering client relationships.
About You
To be successful in this Real Estate (Development) Lawyer role, you will have:
· Between 2-4 years' PQE with a solid background in real estate law, particularly in site acquisition and development matters.
· Strong drafting, negotiation, and advisory skills.
· A client-focused approach with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
· The ability to manage multiple matters efficiently, prioritising your workload and meeting client deadlines.
· An understanding of structuring transactions with reference to SDLT and VAT.
· A strong academic background, ideally with a 2:1 or higher at degree level.
· An interest or experience in Registered Providers or affordable housing transactions would be advantageous but not essential.
· A proactive and commercial mindset, with the ability to convey clear, concise advice to clients and external organisations.
