Contentious Construction Senior Associate | 3-8 PQE | National Law Firm | Birmingham/Hybrid A highly regarded national law firm is looking to appoint a Senior Associate into its established and growing Contentious Construction team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious construction lawyer to join a collaborative, high-performing practice and work on complex, high-profile construction and engineering matters across the UK. The team advises a diverse client base including developers, contractors, consultants, funders, investors and public sector bodies, with exposure to some of the UK's most significant development, regeneration, infrastructure and energy projects. The Role You'll advise on a broad range of contentious construction and engineering matters, working alongside market-leading specialists and taking early responsibility for high-quality client work. Your work will include: · Advising on complex construction and engineering disputes · Acting in adjudications, High Court litigation, arbitration and ADR proceedings · Advising on disputes arising under JCT, NEC and bespoke construction contracts · Supporting clients with project risk management, dispute avoidance and strategic commercial advice · Advising on issues arising throughout the project lifecycle · Working closely with colleagues across Construction, Real Estate, Energy & Infrastructure, Corporate and Restructuring teams · Managing client relationships and contributing to business development initiatives · Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers within the team The team has particular strength across commercial real estate, residential development, infrastructure, energy and the public sector, providing the opportunity to work on a varied and commercially significant caseload. About You You will be a qualified solicitor with 3-8 years' PQE and a strong background in contentious construction law, ideally gained within a recognised national, international or specialist construction practice. You will have: · Strong experience advising on construction and engineering disputes · Experience of adjudication, litigation and/or arbitration · Excellent technical, analytical and drafting skills · Strong commercial awareness and sound judgment · The ability to manage matters and workstreams independently · Excellent client relationship and communication skills · Experience supervising and mentoring junior lawyers · A collaborative approach and an interest in business development Experience of professional negligence, defects, delay, disruption and final account disputes would be advantageous, as would exposure to major development, regeneration, infrastructure or energy projects.
