Costs Draftsperson - North West BCL Legal is delighted to be working with a respected and growing legal services provider in the North West, currently seeking an experienced Costs Draftsperson to join their established in-house costs team. This is an excellent opportunity for a costs professional looking for flexibility, career development, and high-quality claimant work across a broad range of practice areas. The Role: You will be responsible for managing a busy and varied costs caseload, primarily supporting the firm's work in Housing Disrepair and Clinical Negligence claims (claimant side). You'll handle the full range of costs work, including preparing bills of costs, budgets, and negotiating settlements. Key Responsibilities: - Drafting Bills of Costs, Precedent H Budgets, Points of Dispute, and Replies - Preparing and negotiating Costs Budgets in accordance with current CPR requirements - Advising fee earners on strategy for costs recovery and settlement - Managing files from cradle to grave, including advocacy at detailed assessment hearings (where appropriate) - Working with advanced costs drafting software and case management systems What We're Looking For: - A minimum of 2 years' experience as a Costs Draftsperson, ideally within a claimant-focused practice - Solid understanding of the CPR and relevant costs legislation - Experience working on housing disrepair and/or clinical negligence cases would be highly advantageous - Strong negotiation, written, and verbal communication skills -Self-motivated and capable of working independently with remote supervision The Offer: - Competitive salary commensurate with experience - Remote working or hybrid options available - Supportive, collaborative culture with ongoing training and development - Exposure to complex and rewarding claimant costs work - Comprehensive benefits package including pension and performance-related incentives Whether you're based in the North West or seeking a flexible, remote opportunity with a progressive firm, this could be the next step in your legal career.
