Company:
Our client is leading business services company that supplies a range of critical services to business customers in the UK and overseas. The company has experienced strong year-on-year growth, both organically and through acquisition, and it continues to expand its service offering, operational capability and global footprint.
The Role - Commercial Solicitor / Legal Counsel
The organisation is seeking a Commercial Solicitor / Legal Counsel to work alongside the existing Legal Director. The purpose of the role is to strengthen the in-house legal capability in commercial contracting, and to play a key role in supporting the company's continued expansion in the UK, and internationally.
As Legal Counsel, you will support the Legal Director with a wide range of commercial and corporate projects, plus you will have the opportunity to work independently on your own commercial and contractual matters.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a diverse range of commercial agreements
- Supporting complex tender processes and contract negotiations
- Advising on regulatory and compliance matters, including GDPR, sanctions, anti-bribery and competition law
- Assisting with corporate projects and transactions where required
- Helping develop internal legal processes as contract volumes and operational complexity increase
Person Profile
The hiring manager is seeking a commercially-minded solicitor with around 4 years' PQE (or equivalent) handling commercial and contractual matters.
Existing in-house experience is not a prerequisite, although it would be advantageous to have some in-house experience and/or exposure to other areas of commercial law - e.g. corporate, corporate governance, GDPR etc. Existing experience of international work is also helpful but not mandatory.
Strong negotiation skills and an ability to engage effectively with stakeholders across all levels is a must. So too is a willingness to develop broad in-house experience, and to contribute meaningfully to the next stage of the company's expansion.
Working arrangements
The offices are in Lancashire so it is envisaged that applicants will be based in the North West of England, or perhaps West Yorkshire.
Hybrid and semi-remote working opportunities are available, and ideally those living further afield will attend the office one day a week as a minimum. For individuals living closer to home, you have a choice to work more days in the office, should you prefer.
BCL Legal is an equal opportunities employer.
