The Company
Our client is a thriving investment group focused on acquiring and nurturing successful software and technology businesses. Unlike traditional private equity models, this organisation invests for the long term, retaining, developing, and supporting its acquisitions to help them grow sustainably.
Having expanded rapidly across Europe, North America and beyond, the group is continuing its ambitious investment strategy by scaling its legal team to support the next phase of growth.
The Role: In-house Corporate Solicitor / Legal Counsel - UK & Europe
The General Counsel is seeking a talented Corporate M&A or Corporate/Commercial Solicitor to join the London team, and to support both the group company and its acquired businesses.
Reporting to the Head of Legal for the UK & Europe, as In-house Corporate Solicitor / Legal Counsel will play a key role in providing business-focused legal guidance across a broad range of corporate, commercial and operational matters. This includes:
- Post-acquisition and integration work - where your M&A and due-diligence experience will help newly acquired companies embed best practice and align with group standards;
- Strategic commercial contract support across the software and technology portfolio;
- Ongoing corporate governance and compliance advisory work;
- Targeted M&A support on new acquisitions - without the intensity or unpredictability of private practice deal timetables.
This is a standout in-house opportunity for someone who wants to use their corporate skill set in a more strategic and predictable environment, contributing to how acquisitions succeed after completion, rather than living in the pressure of transaction cycles.
About You
Applications are encouraged from England & Wales qualified solicitors, ideally with corporate / M&A, corporate finance or corporate/commercial experience.
You'll be someone who enjoys applying legal judgement to real-world business challenges, and you should have an interest in advising and supporting on the operational side of running successful technology companies. This includes the post-acquisition implementation of due diligence recommendations, and the successful integration of acquired companies.
A guideline PQE of 3+ years is suggested, but the team is open to speaking with lawyers outside this range, particularly those with experience working in or alongside software and technology businesses.
