Our client is a globally-regarded engineering company with an enviable reputation for the delivery of high-performing and innovative engineered products. This is a superb opportunity to join a company involved in the design, development, manufacture and delivery of cutting-edge energy solutions. Its clients include major multinationals and governmental organisations, and its suppliers and delivery partners are a who's who of other globally renowned engineering and energy companies. Role: In-house Legal Counsel The General Counsel is seeking to appoint an experienced Commercial Lawyer to join the in-house legal department as In-house Legal Counsel. The role will involve drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of complex and bespoke commercial agreements, to include: supply chain contracts; design and engineering services contracts; partnering supply contracts; NDAs; MoUs; preliminary transactions agreements, licensing and confidentiality arrangements; and other bespoke service agreements. Working closely with Senior Legal Counsel and Head of Legal, the role provides legal guidance to internal teams, supports cross-functional collaboration with supply chain, procurement, commercial, finance, and engineering groups, and helps align contractual terms with business objectives. Responsibilities also include preparing template documents, policies, closing materials, and legal correspondence, as well as conducting contract reviews, summarising legal risks, performing legal research, and creating supporting documentation. Candidate Profile: You will be a UK-qualified commercial contracts solicitor with around 2-5 years' post-qualification experience, ideally gained within the commercial or projects team of a leading private practice law firm, or an equivalent in-house team. Whilst existing in-house experience is not essential, individuals with experience in the engineering, manufacturing, energy, or projects space (including via secondment) is advantageous. Specific experience of complex supply-chain contracts and risk management is also highly desirable. Research shows that some people avoid applying for jobs unless they can meet every single criteria. If you're interested in this job, but don't tick all the boxes, apply anyway! We hardly ever hire people who can do every part of a job from Day One. Everyone has a learning curve. So don't rule yourself out! Why Apply? This is a standout opportunity to join a highly-respected organisation operating at the intersection between the engineering and energy sectors. As well as exposure to groundbreaking and novel legal matters, and involvement in complex and cutting-edge projects, this role offers genuine career growth and progression opportunities. Alongside the high-quality legal work, our client is offering a competitive benefits package that includes: a generous employer pension contribution, bonus, life assurance, income protection, 28 days holiday, and private medical insurance. The company office is located in Manchester and hybrid working (2-3 days in the office) is available. BCL Legal is an equal opportunities employer.
